November 2026
4 Nov 26
Session
Charvik was much more engaged today than he usually is. · Julia
2 Nov 26
Session
Since I had everyone typing in the chat today and their writing appeared on the screen, Charvik felt much more engaged than he has in the last few days. He even came up with the suggestion to color-code and highlight key words. I did not get to work with him much during writing. · Julia

Session
Charvik brought up wanting to rewrite his whole essay in class today, so he paid close attention during the writing reviews. · Julia

Poor engagement · This book is not Charvik's favorite, so when we are working through reading, he will say he has read the passage after skimming through the pages once. He also won't participate in reading discussions without prompting. · Resolved 2026-10-31 · as per my last convo with mom, Charvik read the book already. informed the mom that he's not been actively participating in reading and asked her to talk to him about the same

Session
Charvik's attention span wasn't great today. I had to repeatedly call him back to focus and ask questions about his in-class reading. Elaborating was the most confusing part of writing for him, so I'll have to look over his elaboration on Wednesday. · Julia
21 Oct 26
Session
Charvik was distracted today. I spent a lot of class time asking him questions to make sure he remained engaged. · Julia
19 Oct 26
Session
Charvik was engaged today, but I had to end some of his stories before he could finish, so we could move things along today. · Julia
14 Oct 26
Session
Charvik was a bit silly today, but it didn't deter the class too much. I probably asked him to stretch his thinking more than anyone else in this class, and he was always open to elaborating. · Julia
12 Oct 26
Session
Charvik was engaged today. He came up with a one-word theme during the reading portion of class, but after some encouragement to keep going, he transformed it into something longer and more generalizable. It was a strong theme. His strongest feedback during writing was capitalization. · Julia
7 Oct 26
Session
Charvik was engaged today. He was a little more excited to talk about things that didn't have to do with class today, but it was easy to bring his attention back. · Julia
5 Oct 26
Session
Charvik's participation was more consistent than it has been in the past few weeks, and he's turned in his homework. All in all, it was a good day for him. He will also need the transition bank when I send out homework. I didn't notice many transition words while he was reading his story. · Julia

Session
Charvik tried to begin a new story today. I course-corrected before he could start over again and recommended that he implement some of his sensory sentence ideas into his idea from last class. He was more present today than in the last few classes. · Julia
23 Sep 26
Session
Charvik has already finished the book, which makes his opinions during our reading discussions interesting. He is very quick and purposeful in finding evidence. He's fallen behind in writing, though. He begins writing solid ideas but moves on from them quickly. · Julia
21 Sep 26
Session
Charvik wasn't very engaged this session. He read far ahead in the book and spent most of the class asking if he could get back to it. He seemed interested in the game, but during writing, he was confused about whether he wanted to stick to his original narrative or change it. · Julia
16 Sep 26
Session
It felt like Charvik was in and out during this session. At one point, I had to ask him to put a book down. I will call on him more often to participate next class, since he is usually pretty engaged. · Julia
14 Sep 26
Session
Charvik did well with the spelling test. He finished the grammar assessment second with a score of 88%. At the end of class, he shared his drawing of his dream room. · Julia
9 Sep 26
Session
He finished with 13 questions correct out of 24, or 54%. He finished earlier in the class, so I had him answer a few questions in the chat. · Julia

Session
Charvik shared a lot in this class. I tried to emphasize raising hands and going in a specific order for taking turns to make sure that everyone got to share when it came to reading and discussion. He was quick about inferencing and used textual evidence, but when it came to stretching, things got muddled. Again, I'll give them more time to look at the text the next time. His writing was repetitive, but we discussed together other details we could add if we got the chance to write this again. · Julia
